GM NAIAS Exhibit & Press Events
|
GM NAIAS 2010 Car Exhibit
Once again, NED has provided lighting design services for the General Motors exhibit at the Detroit Auto Show, as well as for all of their press events. Featured in the exhibit this year were approximately 70 different cars from Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac. Primarily responsible for this project was staff lighting designer Don Hill. Working onsite with Don was Susanna Harris.
GM NAIAS 2010 Press Event
January 11th was the kick-off of the Press Events for GMC, Buick, and Cadillac, all of which were produced by Aquila Productions. The Cadillac division unveiled the XTS Platinum Concept and the CRS-V Coupe Concept cars while Buick revealed the Regal GS.
The stage for the press event contained 3 turntables with a 70 foot wide LED display as the background, comprised of a combination of Barco low resolution and high resolution LED products. The main presentation videos and image magnification played on the center high resolution display, while more abstract images were fed to the surrounding low resolution display. The lighting worked in conjunction with these screens providing an atmosphere to work with the mood of the videos and to highlight the details of the new car models. Jim Tetlow was the lighting designer and staff designer Kurt Doemelt programmed the presentations.
For all of the GM projects in Detroit, LightSouce provided the lighting and rigging equipment and both supervisory and local labor.

Besides announcing the production dates of the Volt, the show also covered a new OnStar device including applications for mobile smartphones to remotely control aspects of the car like unlocking, starting, charging, etc.
The Marketing Connection of Detroit, Michigan produced this event, which was designed by Jaki Johnson.

The installations include classrooms and conference rooms at these facilities. Michael Lindauer and Andy Foley are project managers.
In addition to the other installations mentioned in our previous newsletter, this brings the total of NED designed military facilities to twelve.
